How these dates are calculated

Every date on this site is calculated from the Umm al-Qura calendar, the Hijri calendar used in Saudi Arabia and by the Ayyam app. Many communities begin each month with a local moon sighting instead, so a date here can differ from yours by a day. When the start of a month is confirmed differently, the app can receive a correction. Date tables stop at 1450 AH, the last year we have checked against an independent Umm al-Qura table.
